Back to training for Elite Athletes

Squad train with Southampton A.C. ahead of busy week

After Wednesday's successful races at Wimbledon Hercules AC Open Meeting, the elite athletes returned to training on Thursday. Next week will see Chigo, Maria and Johanna competing at three Open Meetings as they travel to Bromley, Woking and Brighton in the space of four days.

Maria and Johanna took part in a recovery session in the morning before the whole squad met up for a meal at the home of Dr and Mrs Pitt, who had many interesting stories to share of their time in Africa. After a look around their beautiful garden, they enjoyed a meal together before heading home and preparing for their evening training session at Southampton Sports Centre.

Chigo enjoyed some middle distance training with a group of talented athletes from Southampton Athletics Club, including the National Cross Country Champion. He fitted right in and will meet this group a few more times over the coming weeks for some more quality training sessions.

Meanwhile, the Bangala sisters spent their evening training in a group including 17-year old Oliver Bromby, who has run 10.4 seconds for 100m this year. Coach Gary Gray helped them to improve on a few aspects of their running and will continue to do so as the squad take part in more training.

Please feel free to come and support the squad at Norman Park, Bromley on Monday night, Sheerwater Track, Woking on Wednesday night or The Withdean Sports Complex, Brighton on Thursday night!
