Chigo, Maria and Johanna arrive in UK!

Squad arrive for trip after grueling 25 hour journey.

The three students representing the Chengelo Elite Athletics Squad this August have arrived in the UK after a long journey. After leaving Mkushi on Sunday morning, they arrived in Lusaka later that day and after a barbecue at Chigo's house, they rested before departing from Lusaka by plane on Monday evening. The first flight was a relatively short journey to Johannesburg and, following a quick walk through the airport, they boarded a flight to Dubai. 

A six-hour stopover in the United Arab Emirates was long and boring but they kept themselves entertained until the final leg of the journey to London Heathrow. They were then met by John Symons and CET Chairman Richard Hobden at Heathrow's Terminal 3 before a short drive down the M3 to Southampton.

The squad can now look forward to competing at the Wimbledon Hercules Athletics Club Open Meeting on Wednesday evening. Maria will run in the 100m, Chigo in the 1500m and then both Bangala sisters will run in the 200m. Details of the event can be found here: http://www.herculeswimbledonac.org.uk/Open-T&F.html
